Embracing Movement: The Power of Exercise During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a remarkable journey of transformation, and while rest is undoubtedly important, staying as active as you can manage plays a vital role in supporting both mother and baby. From my experience, this stage of life is wonderful, but also really hard. It’s hard seeing your body changing and not being able to do (or easily do) the things you’ve always done (ie. jogging up a flight of stairs without sucking wind or even rolling over in bed). Even if you’ve never exercised regularly in your life, a well-designed exercise routine during pregnancy can offer a wealth of benefits, from easing common discomforts to preparing your body for labor and postpartum recovery. It's about finding a balance that honors your changing body while nurturing your strength and well-being.

Here are some key benefits that exercising can do:

  • Improves your energy levels

  • Reduces back pain

  • Alleviates constipation

  • Helps manage gestational diabetes

  • Boosts your mood

  • Reduces stress

  • Improves sleep quality

  • Gives you the strength you need to take care of your newborn

Did you know that we are certified specifically in pregnancy and postpartum exercise? We have many spent hours studying the current recommendations for exercises with various populations of pregnant and postpartum women to best help you!

Vitality is an amazing personal training studio and it has great group fitness classes. The trainers are attentive and knowledgeable and will curate programming and workouts specific to you and your goals. If you have any limitations or injuries, they will always work with you to find an effective but safe way to work out. For me, I initially visited Vitality for their emphasis on women's health. I joined when I was pregnant - Stef and Ryann are experts in working with women and specifically with prenatal and postpartum phases. It was a non-intimidating way to come and get some movement in no matter how I was feeling. After having the baby, they helped guide and pace me back into a fitness routine that has been sustainable for continued strength and improvement. MAJOR BONUS - YOU CAN BRING YOUR KIDS TO CERTAIN CLASSES!! Anyone you meet here is super nice and welcoming. The trainers are accommodating, understanding and motivating. I would recommend Vitality to anyone in any phase of life and any fitness level - there is truly something for everyone! “ - Liz

Our Ageless Strength Class is off to a great start. If you are looking for a workout geared for older adults (anyone 50+), this class is for you!  I am tired of hearing about all thee chair yoga, chair mobility, chair workout classes for older adults. Most of you don’t need to be working out seated! In fact, it could impede your strength. In this class, we work on overall strength as well as flexibility, mobility and balance. Come check us out Thursday at 11:15 for a 45 minute class taught by Coach Jacob!

Congratulations Katie!

“Katie joined Vitality after the birth of her first child, aiming to regain her strength. Not only did she achieve that, but she's also incredibly stronger postpartum with her second child than when she first walked through our doors! What's truly remarkable is how Katie has managed to consistently incorporate exercise into her incredibly busy life. Balancing two young kids and a full-time job is no small feat, yet she's found a way to prioritize her well-being. That dedication is absolutely huge, and I’m so proud to celebrate her incredible journey!” - Coach Stef
